As the world's leading provider of mobility solutions, Magneti Marelli will exhibit its latest zone control unit developed in cooperation with Infineon at the Beijing International Auto Show.

Magneti Marelli Zone Controllers (Zones) are advanced electronic control units that can be installed in specific areas of the vehicle and manage various functions. With Magneti Marelli's industry-leading cross-domain expertise, Zone Controllers integrate lighting, body, audio, accessories, etc. Electronic control units (ECUs) in various fields such as electricity, drive, thermal management, chassis control and vehicle diagnosis. As part of Magneti Marelli’s scalable hardware solutions, it revolutionizes the concept of software-defined vehicles. These solutions, combined with service-oriented software and cloud virtualization, usher in a new era of vehicle customization and personalization. By decoupling hardware and software, Magneti Marelli zone control units offer unparalleled flexibility, scalability and compatibility to adapt to any OEM architecture, while also reducing hardware complexity and cost.

The regional controller uses Infineon's AURIXTMTC4x microcontroller, which has benefited many vehicle manufacturers. The special Data Routing Engine (DRE) in the Infineon AURIXTM microcontroller ensures extremely low latency levels when connecting CAN and Ethernet. This enables the zone control unit to integrate numerous electronic computing units into a single piece of hardware. This integration does not impact performance and provides a robust foundation for a centralized architecture. In addition, Infineon's microcontrollers support hardware virtualization, another key element of next-generation zone architectures, enabling the simultaneous running of multiple virtual machines in a zone control unit, enabling applications with different domains and different functional safety levels. running in parallel.

Lars Wemme, Vice President of ADAS, Chassis, Electronic and Electrical Architecture Product Line at Infineon, said:

We work with innovative companies like Magneti Marelli to shape the new future of mobility. Regional controllers will play an important role in enabling ECU integration, electronic and electrical architecture, and software-defined vehicles. Leveraging the advantages of Infineon's AURIXTMTC4x microcontrollers, OEMs can achieve higher efficiencies in system design, implementation and operation. "

Magneti Marelli will be unveiled at the Beijing International Automobile Exhibition Booth W1-W01 from April 25 to May 4, 2024. At that time, visitors can have an in-depth understanding through the on-site zone control unit (Zones) demonstration, and can also visit other Innovative products and technologies that support the transition to software-defined cars. In the future, Magneti Marelli will continue to uphold its commitment to innovation and design excellence, and continue to push the boundaries of mobility technology.
